E11 Victorian Front Garden

The Brief

To improve the aesthetics of the front garden, whilst complementing the style of the house and creating privacy and storage.

The Solution

My design aims to create a private and plant filled front garden which complements the Victorian style of the house with some contemporary touches.

The new Victorian tile path and rope edging echo the style of the house with black metal railings completing the elegant finish.  Black painted bespoke batten fencing provides a contemporary privacy screen and a matching chest for practical storage.

An Acer dissectum 'Inaba-Shidare' underplanted with Hakonechloa is a focal point in the garden with Khandler grey sandstone and flint gravel making up the ground cover.

Fragrant climbers including Clematis Armandii and Lonicera Japonica 'Halliana' contrast with the black fencing.  Evergreen Choisya and Daphne shrubs are supported the seasonal colour of Astrantia, Geraniums and Crocosmia throughout the year.
