E11 Industrial Style Family Garden Design
My clients wanted a garden with modern and practical seating and storage areas for the family softened by as much planting and grassed areas as possible. They like industrial looking materials and a riot of colour.
My design solution addressed the key issues with the current garden; levels which didn't allow for a practical use of the space and a sunny back area which was under utilised.
My recommendation was to extend the existing patio to created an enclosed dining space with an L shaped concrete sofa/planter and colourful geometric tiles. A bespoke wooden storage box with sedum green roof provides ample storage space for childrens toys and tools.
An additional concrete patio has been created at the back with a wildflower meadow separating the space from a small lawn. Rebar trellis gives an industrial back drop for espalier apple trees and climbers and is complemented with Corten steel edging to the patios and flower beds and Corten steel bug hotels on the light grey painted fencing.
Planting is naturalistic in style in synergy with the wildflowers with an multi stem Amelanchier lamarckii, Acer 'Bloodgood' and Malus 'Tschonoskii' providing height and focal points.
