N5 Secluded Family Garden
My clients wanted a garden that was suitable for their growing family of teenage children and a dog, that was easy to maintain and had flexible seating options for relaxation and entertaining.
The existing garden was overcrowded and dark, with an overbearing bay tree and bamboo. Privacy was a consideration as the garden is overlooked on three sides.
My design uses a 45 degree angle to create triangular raised beds which bring the planting into the centre of the garden, creating options for seating and perching around the garden and are dog-friendly.
The London stock brick used echoes the Victorian architecture, whilst the porcelain coping, paving and dark grey batten fencing give the garden a contemporary twist.
A large bespoke L shaped oak bench will become the main seating area, with the flexibility to add seating when required.
Pleached Carpinus provide privacy to the rear with a multi stem Betula, creating an all season focal point in the back right corner.
Planting is Japanese inspired, with a constrained colour palette of green, pink and white.
Fuchsia pink planters provide a pop of colour.
