Top 5 gardening jobs for December

I know it's cold out there and the days are short but there's still a few key jobs to do in the garden this month. Here's my top 5.

  1. Hang bird feeders

Hang bird feeders off your trees and bushes to help attract our feathered friends into the garden this Winter. They'll repay you by picking of the overwintering pests in the garden.

2. Make homemade Christmas decorations

Cut stems of seasonal evergreens and plants with berries to make your own sustainable Christmas decorations.

3. Prune overgrown hedges

Whilst they are dormant, hard prune any overgrown hedges.

4. Remove leaves from ponds

Scoop up fallen leaves from your pond, leave them on the side so that insects can escape then put them in your compost

5. Group potted plants

Protect your potted plants from the worst of the Winter weather by grouping them together.

Happy gardening and have a great Christmas and New Year.
