As climate change results in increasingly dry Spring weather, Autumn has emerged as the most dependable season for planting for the upcoming year. It's essential for your gardens to feature plants that remain attractive, even during Winter, ensuring there's always something captivating to enjoy in the colder months.

These are my top 5 Winter interest plants

Jasminium nudiflorum is a remarkable deciduous climber that features charming yellow flowers from January to March. It is hardy, adaptable to most soils and conditions, and adds a vibrant touch of yellow to the garden during the darker months.

  1. Viburnum tinus

The striking white bark of a Betula utilis 'Jacquemontii' creates a beautiful Winter silouhette, particularly if you plant a multi stem variety.

  1. Hellebores

White flowers with green leaves and speckled centers bloom in a garden. Wooden fence and bushes are in the blurred background.

Hellebores are the quintessential winter flowers, showcasing a color palette from pure white to dusky pinks, deep purples, and reds. Their nodding blooms often persist well into spring. The glossy, evergreen leaves offer a backdrop for plants that bloom later.

5 Cornus sanguinea

Bright red branches stand tall against a lush green garden backdrop, bathed in sunlight. No visible text or people.

Cornus sanguinea captivates throughout the year, featuring small white flowers in spring, green leaves in summer, and berries in autumn. However, it truly stands out in winter with its vibrant red stems, which look stunning when paired with evergreen shrubs and spring flowers.

When selecting plants for your garden, remember the crucial Winter months, as structure, color, and form are key to achieving a garden that looks appealing throughout the year.
